OpenLoong Robots
Humanoid Robot (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and the Shanghai Humanoid Robot Manufacturing Innovation Center were established in December 2023 with registered capital of ¥1 billion, jointly founded by state-owned enterprises and industry leaders, and designated a National and Local Jointly Built Humanoid Robot Innovation Center by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Shanghai municipal government in May 2024. In June 2024 it launched OpenLoong, described as the first open-source community platform for humanoid robots, and the following month released Qinglong — China's first open-source full-size general-purpose humanoid, standing 1.82 m, weighing 82 kg and carrying 43 active degrees of freedom, with hardware designs and software algorithms published openly. The centre has stated an intent to release a new humanoid model annually, each named for a Chinese zodiac animal.
