TetherIA Robots
TetherIA was founded in January 2025 in Silicon Valley and develops robotic manipulation hardware for embodied AI, starting with a five-fingered tendon-driven dexterous hand. Co-founder Yiwei Tao led the Tesla Optimus dexterous hand programme and was previously lead mechanical designer for Apple Vision Pro; co-founder Xu Dong headed AI planning technology at XPeng and was a core member of Waymo's foundational large-model team. The team of roughly 15 engineers is drawn from Stanford, UC Berkeley, Cornell and Carnegie Mellon.
