VinMotion was established in January 2025 in Hanoi with close to US$40 million in registered capital as a subsidiary of the Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup, with the goal of building Vietnam's first general-purpose humanoid robot. Its robots are aimed at manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and customer service, with initial deployment inside VinFast electric-vehicle factories on parts transport and quality control. Robotics lead Nguyen Trung Quan holds a PhD from Carnegie Mellon, worked on the MIT Cheetah, and has taught at the University of Southern California.
