Overview

The SVH is a servo-electric five-finger gripping hand built at a 1:1 ratio to the human hand. Nine drives actuate 20 degrees of freedom (two each for thumb, forefinger and middle finger, one each for ring and little finger, plus one to spread the hand), using servomotors with spindle guides. Elastic, slip-resistant gripping surfaces aid grip, and the complete control, regulator and power electronics are integrated in the wrist, running on 24 V DC with an RS-485 communication interface.

SCHUNK offers left- and right-hand versions, delivered in an aluminum case. The hand mounts via the FWK quick-change system, which carries communication and power over spring-loaded pins, and ROS1/ROS2 drivers are available. It weighs 1.3 kg, and SCHUNK limits workpiece weight to a maximum of 0.85 kg in human-robot collaboration applications, with significantly higher permissible weights for other applications and form-fit clamping.

RoboZaps maintains this record as part of its canonical robotics database. Specs are source-verified where linked; the record compares public facts across manufacturers rather than representing a single robot maker.
