Overview

The Unitree Dex5-1P is the tactile-sensing variant of the five-finger Dex5-1 dexterous hand, with 20 degrees of freedom of which 16 are active (thumb x4, four fingers x3 each, plus ±22° four-finger lateral swing). Transmission uses 12 self-developed micro force-controlled composite transmission joints, which Unitree says enable tactile proprioception, plus 4 micro force-controlled gear-transmission joints; all five fingers can be replaced independently.

The P variant carries 94 pressure sensors per hand arrayed across the palm, finger pads, fingertips and finger roots, with a perception range of 10 g to 2,500 g (the base Dex5-1 lists no pressure sensors). The hand weighs 1,100 g, and Unitree's stated load conditions are a maximum weight of 3.5 kg palm-down and 4.5 kg palm-left grasping a 5 cm round hard object, with 10 N fingertip strength and ±1 mm fingertip repeat positioning accuracy.
